Product Description:

Adheron™ EA-470 is a specialty adduct of diglycidyl ether of Bisphenol A epoxy resin (DGEBA) and a omega-9 fatty acid. When polymerized into an epoxy resin, the fatty acid improves the resin’s overall mechanical properties. Adheron EA-470 can be added as a reactive diluent and its low viscosity will reduce the viscosity of adhesive formulations, allowing for increased filler loading and improved handling. The modified backbone enhances fracture toughness, peel strength and impact resistance of bonded joints. The long, flexible chain of the fatty acid molecule reduces the stiffness of the cured epoxy resin, making it more resistant to cracking and improving its ability to deform under stress; making adhesives based on Adheron EA-470 ideal for land transportation applications where vibration, torsion and three-dimensional stresses are common. A sacrifice in elevated temperature performance and chemical resistance may be noted with Adheron EA-470 comparable to other epoxy diluents.

Recommendation for Use

  • Epoxy Adhesives
  • Potting Compounds
  • Epoxy Coatings
